The four case formats explained
UPPERCASE: Every letter is capitalized. Used for headings, acronyms, emphasis, and legal documents.
lowercase: Every letter is lowercased. Useful for email addresses, URLs, usernames, and casual writing.
Title Case: The first letter of each word is capitalized. Standard for headings, article titles, book titles, and proper names.
Sentence case: Only the first letter of each sentence is capitalized. This is the default for normal prose and most written communication.
When to use each case
Blog and article titles: Title case is the most common convention for English-language headlines and article titles.
Code and data: Lowercase is often required for database fields, variable names, and file paths.
Legal and formal documents: Uppercase is used in contracts and headings to add emphasis and clarity.
Everyday writing: Sentence case matches standard grammar rules and is easiest to read in body text.
