Pregnancy Weeks Calculator

Calculate how many weeks pregnant you are and your due date from your last menstrual period (LMP). Free pregnancy calculator with trimester breakdown.

Our free pregnancy weeks calculator works out how many weeks and days pregnant you are, your estimated due date (EDD), which trimester you're in, and your approximate conception date — all from the first day of your last menstrual period.

How to calculate pregnancy weeks

Pregnancy is measured from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), not from conception. Count the number of days from your LMP to today and divide by 7 to get weeks.

Weeks pregnant = days since LMP ÷ 7

For example, if your LMP was 70 days ago, you are 10 weeks pregnant.

How to calculate your due date

The estimated due date (EDD) is calculated using Naegele's Rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your LMP.

Due date = LMP + 280 days

Only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date — the EDD is an estimate. Your healthcare provider may adjust it based on an early ultrasound.

The three trimesters

TrimesterWeeks
First trimesterWeeks 1–12
Second trimesterWeeks 13–26
Third trimesterWeeks 27–40

When does conception occur?

Ovulation and conception typically occur around day 14 of the menstrual cycle — about two weeks after the LMP. This is why the pregnancy calendar starts two weeks before actual conception.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate how many weeks pregnant I am?
Enter the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) in the calculator. Pregnancy is counted from the LMP, not conception, because the exact conception date is often unknown. The calculator automatically counts the weeks and shows your current trimester.
How accurate is the due date calculator?
The due date is an estimate based on a 40-week pregnancy from your LMP. Only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. Most deliveries occur between 37 and 42 weeks. Your healthcare provider may adjust the due date based on ultrasound measurements.
What are the three trimesters of pregnancy?
First trimester: Weeks 1-12 - major organs develop. Second trimester: Weeks 13-27 - baby grows rapidly, you may feel movement. Third trimester: Weeks 28-40 - baby gains weight and prepares for birth.
Can I calculate pregnancy weeks if I know my conception date?
Yes, but you'll need to add 2 weeks to get the pregnancy week count. Doctors count pregnancy from LMP, which is typically 2 weeks before conception. If you conceived 6 weeks ago, you're approximately 8 weeks pregnant.
How many weeks is a full-term pregnancy?
Full-term pregnancy is 37 to 42 weeks. Before 37 weeks is considered preterm. After 42 weeks is post-term. The calculator helps you track where you are in this range.
Why do doctors count pregnancy from last period instead of conception?
The LMP is easier to identify than the exact conception date, which can vary based on ovulation timing. Counting from LMP provides a standardized method and accounts for the 2 weeks before conception when your body was preparing for pregnancy.
